The mission of COLOR IN SOUND is to empower youth and underserved populations through providing music and arts programming and events that promote community involvement, self-expression and personal growth.

Vision Statement

COLOR IN SOUND is a welcoming, compassionate, and warm community that works towards empowering underserved populations through music and arts programming and events that promote community involvement, self-expression and personal growth.

-   We are a community of learners - One can only teach if they learn, and so we continue to learn from       our community.

-  We are a community of teachers - We share a core value that others around us should be                          empowered with the same knowledge and understanding that we have obtained.

-   We are a community of developers - We understand that with time, comes change, and so we learn        how to complement the current times with the core values of our organization which stay the same.

-   We are a community of creatives - We embrace uniqueness, and will not allow the current standard        to stifle progression nor shall we question continuous development.

-   We are a community of supporters - We provide support and endearment within our own                          community, and project strong, positive morale outward to our community.

-   We are a community of activists - We share a passion for assisting the underserved, who deserve            the same opportunities and choices as the community around them.

Through our efforts, we hope to address and challenge the following notions:

-   That art only has value if acknowledged by a small pool of credible institutions. We shall challenge          this notion by providing our community with ample grass roots resources to enable their continued        growth.

-   That underserved voices are of lesser importance, and so we shall provide platforms for our                    underserved populations to express themselves.

-   That the profession of a musician or artist is of a lesser prestige, unless it is compensated                       monetarily, and so we shall establish and encourage a barter system within our community. Further,     we shall provide educational programming that will assist artists in their development of                         transitioning into making music/ arts a lucrative profession.

-   That the services or works of musicians and artists should be provided without compensation to              those who profit directly from these services, and so we shall continue fundraising to provide paid          opportunities as frequently as funding permits.

-   That Music and Arts continue to remain that of a lesser priority in our education’s core curriculum,         and so we shall provide programming for individuals who do not benefit from music and arts                   education due to budgetary restrictions.
