Mission Statement
The mission of COLOR IN SOUND is to empower youth and underserved populations through providing music and arts programming and events that promote community involvement, self-expression and personal growth.

Vision Statement
COLOR IN SOUND is a welcoming, compassionate, and warm community that works towards empowering underserved populations through music and arts programming and events that promote community involvement, self-expression and personal growth.
- We are a community of learners - One can only teach if they learn, and so we continue to learn from our community.

- We are a community of teachers - We share a core value that others around us should be empowered with the same knowledge and understanding that we have obtained.

- We are a community of developers - We understand that with time, comes change, and so we learn how to complement the current times with the core values of our organization which stay the same.

- We are a community of creatives - We embrace uniqueness, and will not allow the current standard to stifle progression nor shall we question continuous development.

- We are a community of supporters - We provide support and endearment within our own community, and project strong, positive morale outward to our community.

- We are a community of activists - We share a passion for assisting the underserved, who deserve the same opportunities and choices as the community around them.

Through our efforts, we hope to address and challenge the following notions:

- That art only has value if acknowledged by a small pool of credible institutions. We shall challenge this notion by providing our community with ample grass roots resources to enable their continued growth.

- That underserved voices are of lesser importance, and so we shall provide platforms for our underserved populations to express themselves.

- That the profession of a musician or artist is of a lesser prestige, unless it is compensated monetarily, and so we shall establish and encourage a barter system within our community. Further, we shall provide educational programming that will assist artists in their development of transitioning into making music/ arts a lucrative profession.

- That the services or works of musicians and artists should be provided without compensation to those who profit directly from these services, and so we shall continue fundraising to provide paid opportunities as frequently as funding permits.

- That Music and Arts continue to remain that of a lesser priority in our education’s core curriculum, and so we shall provide programming for individuals who do not benefit from music and arts education due to budgetary restrictions.

Background
Color in Sound began with a red sticker and a young boy prosing a question to Jass Bianchi as she worked behind the counter at a music store. “What does a sale mean?” The boy was holding a harmonica in his hand, about to put his lips to the instrument, when his caretaker pulled it out of his hands. She explained that he could not put his mouth on it because he did not have money to pay for it. iThe child frowned and proceeded to ask Bianchi “What does a sale mean?” That experience planted a seed that would eventually become Color in Sound.

In 2015, Bianchi began selling customized guitar pick earrings, and T-shirts at her place of employment to start saving for the launch of an organization with one notion in mind: that music and arts should be created, facilitated, consumed and enjoyed by all. It was then that Boston Youth Music Series (BYMS) began hosting the first of its open mic nights and concert series at Hearth Pizzeria in Needham, MA.

In 2016, the program expanded to provide additional open mics and concert series at Battle Grounds Coffee Co. in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Color in Sound partnered with the Boston Private Industry Council in providing free recording, and concert performances for at-risk populations native to the Boston area. Color in Sound volunteered time in donating free arts and music related material at fundraising events for Opportunity Works Newburyport and Haverhill.
In 2017, Color in Sound received a $3,000 grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council, issued by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, to assist in facilitating the inaugural Northeast Youth Music and Arts Festival. The Festival will showcase an anticipated 700 youth participants and attract as many as 10,000 attendees. For the Festival, and other initiatives, Color in Sound continues to work alongside of the Boston Private Industry Council as well as collaborate with Los Angeles based music & arts agency Strega Entertainment, the West Suburban YCCA, the Boston based music & arts non-profit, Pavoh, Art Au Pair, the esteemed Young Performer’s Club and Next Generation Concerts, Color in Sound continues to build relationships with companies and organizations who share similar visions. The organization has received recognition in various media outlets, including the Hull Times, MyDorchester, Discover Needham and the Haverhill Access TV channel.

Knowing that music and arts are vehicles of communication, and through communication we are able to visualize, improve, change, invent and re-invent life, Color in Sound has begun campaigning for donations of music equipment. The goal of securing this equipment is to provide music programming to populations with disabilities, mental illness, and addiction issues, as well as low income communities.

Music Four All
COLOR IN SOUND has begun campaigning for donations of music equipment. The goal of securing this equipment is to provide music programming to populations with disabilities, mental illness, and addiction issues, as well as low to moderate income (LMI) communities.

About the Founder

Jass Bianchi is a rapper, entrepreneur, activist, marketing professional and long-time youth advocate. Bianchi first started her journey assisting youth in college, when she tutored inner city children at the Nepprehan Center in Yonkers, New York. Following her college years, she engaged in vocal instruction for incarcerated youth in detention centers, transgender youth, and youth struggling with addiction. She has been the keynote speaker for an array of community events speaking about the benefits of music and the arts for the greater community. Jass continues to further her work in collaborating with the Boston Private Industry Council, engaging in street campaigning and marketing with the goal of empowering at-risk youth. In addition to assisting youth, Bianchi, through Color in Sound plans to offer programs for the elderly, those with physical and developmental disabilities, and those suffering with mental illness. She volunteers her time at programs benefitting these populations and looks forward to collaborating with organizations serving their many needs.
